Notice the new floors and walls!

During our Jan 6th meeting, PDG Troy gave the club an update of the South African Water project that our club used a District Designated Grant to help fund the project.

This project was a collaborative water and sanitation effort building on projects already completed by the Rotary Club of Grahamstown with the support of the Rotary Club of Jackson Hole in the Grahamstown/Makhanda schools. These projects have established consistent daily running water, filtered water for drinking (and consumption through the School Nutrition Programs) and have repaired all leaks at the seven identified schools.

This global grant will allow us to perform significant renovation to all toilet blocks at these schools as well as provide significant improvements to the kitchens utilized for the National School Nutrition Programs. Furthermore, when appropriate, rainwater capture potential will be improved through repair and renovation of roofs and gutters at select schools.
